Repulse Bay belongs to southern part of Hong Kong Island, positioned in the Southern District, Hong Kong. In the year 1841 bay was occupied by the pirates who used to cause lot of trouble in trading with China and other countries. Finally, in the 19th century British army repulsed attacking them and made them leave the bay hence the place got its name as Repulse Bay. Then in 1910 the place was refurbished into a beach. Today, it has been changed to a wonderful and most expensive residential area on the beach side where one can enjoy fine dining, relieve the stress from their life and get lots of fun playing varied water sports.
The beach of repulse bay is extended by the side of the clear blue water having the golden sand. The temperature is mostly the same throughout the year that is from 16ºC-26ºC. People love to take a dip in water the year round but it is more popular during summer time hence, lifeguards are put on special duty at this time. In order to offer the security from the dangerous sharks, the bay is secured with nets and floating platforms. Aqua sports are the main attraction of this place but it has much more to offer as well for the visitors. Apart from the regular features of all the beaches that is excellent hotels, supermarkets and cafes; here one could find the lighthouse and Zhenhai Tower Park. At the lighthouse, people can appreciate the natural beauty at the time of sunset and relax themselves by looking at the clam still water. The park is constructed in the traditional Chinese style and has mammoth statues of the Queen of Heaven and the God of Mercy (Kwan-yin). People love to take the pictures besides these statues as they look very real. Deep Water Bay, Middle Bay and South Bay are the beaches near to Repulse bay that too can be explored. These are more famous for bathing and recreation activities so tourists can spend their leisure time on these beaches.
It is easy to get to this crescent-shaped stretch of sand beach, the most beautiful beach in Hong Kong. Get in the subway till the Central Station then after to the Exchange Plaza through the Exit A. From the Exchange Square board a bus to Repulse Bay. The bus number are 6, 6A, 6X and 260 and don’t forget to take the change else end up paying more as bus driver never returns back the change.
